Petition to establish a NEWTONVILLE AREA COUNCIL

I. PURPOSE

The undersigned registered voters of the City of Newton residing in the area described in this petition request that the Board of Aldermen of the City of Newton establish a Newtonville Area Council. The Area Council will provide the services described in Section III, for the geographic area designated in Section IV.

II. LEADERSHIP

The Newtonville Area Council shall represent residents of the designated service area. The Council shall be comprised of nine members elected by and from residents of the Newtonville service area for 2-year terms. If there is a vacancy, members may be appointed.

Hoops for Our Troops

It’s a Slam Dunk:

Enjoy a celebrity basketball game while eating a Cabot’s sundae, all in support of National Armed Forces Day. The Mayor’s Office invites you to salute the troops on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Newton South High School.

The Newton Parents Advisory Council for Special Education (NewtonPAC) is thrilled to announce our Third Annual NewtonPAC Special Educator Awards!

The awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 7:00 PM at Newton North High School, Lasker Theatre, 457 Walnut Street, and will be followed by a casual reception.

Newton Girls Soccer Fall Registration

Newton Girls Soccer registration is open for Fall 2012.

Newton Girls Soccer provides a wonderful learning and playing opportunity to girls in grades K-12 on over 100 teams.
The Club is committed to providing an environment appropriate for the levels of skill, competitiveness and commitment level of each NGS player by providing a variety of programs that match the characteristics of the individual player. NGS currently offers a recreational program (Intramural, K through 8th grade), a travel program (BAYS participation, U9-U18) and, integrated with the travel program, a specialized training program for our most highly committed players.

PMC Newton-Needham-Brookline Kids Ride

SAVE THE DATE - 7th Annual PMC Newton-Needham-Brookline Kids Ride - June 16, 2012, 9:00-11:00 AM.

Please join us for our 7th annual Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) Newton-Needham Kids Ride. All children ages 3-16 can ride their bikes for the cure!

Routes include an 8-mile or 17-mile Road Ride (9 yrs+) from Newton, going through Needham and Dover. Riders can also ride our 0.9 mile Park Circuit as many times as they would like, while tykes with trikes will be on our Tot Loop in the parking area.

The event will be held at the 180 Wells Office Park in Newton. Check-in starts 8:00 AM. Ride from 9:00-11:00 AM. Post Party starts at 11:00 AM.
