Free Computer Classes for Seniors

Need some help with computing? Interested in refreshing your skills or learning something new? We've arranged for free classes TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS at Newton North High School.

In answer to many member requests, Newton at Home, in conjunction with Newton North High School, will be offering again a series of computer sessions tailored to what YOU want to learn. You choose the topics that you would like to cover, for example, Email, Internet searching, SKYPE, WORD, iPAD use, or Facebook.

Each NAH member will be assigned a student tutor; classes are supervised by the Director of the NNHS Innovations Lab.

You may work on MACs or PCs owned by Newton North and you can bring your own laptops and/or iPads. read more »

Jazz, Hip Hop, and Creative Dance Class

Dancers will learn the basic elements of Jazz Dance and Hip Hop set to today's popular music. Along with dance technique instruction, they will be given the opportunity to creatively express themselves through open ended movement. The class will include stretching exercises, progressions across the floor and sequences of age appropriate choreography that will build week to week.

This fun, lively 45 minute class is offered to students who danced with us last season as well as new students. read more »

NCSC Seeks Volunteer Receptionist

The Newton Community Service Center (NCSC) is looking for volunteers to serve in the role of Receptionist/Greeter

As the first person a visitor will see as they enter the agency, this position will serve to create a welcoming yet secure atmosphere at NCSC. Friendly yet professional, the greeter will serve to ensure that people entering the building find their way to appointments yet are discouraged from entering child care areas. Host a Romanian Student in July

Offer a cross-cultural experience this summer to your family!

EERC, a Sudbury charity, seeks hosts for middle-school Romanian students who will attend local summer camps during the month of July. The students are ages 13-15, speak English, and were chosen in a competitive process for their exceptional personal and academic qualities.

Ready, Set, Grow!

Ready, Set, Grow is back! This class, for family groups consisting of a parent and 1-2 children ages 4-6, introduces you to gardening with your children. It’s a great way to teach your kids a lifelong love of healthy eating and is fun and rewarding for the entire family. This three-part series will coach you through your first vegetable garden at home, including vegetables that intrigue and appeal to children. Sessions will be held approximately once a month. Participants will plant, maintain, and harvest a demonstration plot in the Learning Garden at the farm. Apply the basics you’ve learned to maintain your own vegetable garden at home. It’s wonderful quality time with your kids!

Boys and Girls Club Summer Programs

Registration is now open for the John F. Barry Boys and Girls Club Summer Day Camp Program for children ages 6-12 and our Teen Camp for ages 13-14. Applications are now available in the Club's lobby. Previous customers will receive applications by mail next week.
