Join Jim O'Connell for a talk on his book, Dining Out in Boston: A Culinary History. Coming out of the Boston restaurant tradition, this presentation will focus on Newton restaurants that came about during the 1930 postwar era, when suburbanization and automobile travel took off including The Pillar House, Cabot's, Valle's, the first Brigham's, Chez La Mere Madeleine/Modern Gourmet of Madeleine Kamman, as well as current restaurants like Sycamore, Comedor, Cook and The Local. This event is part of the Newton Festival of the Arts and is cosponsored by Historic Newton.
