Called the “Michelangelo of golf,” Donald Ross designed nearly 400 golf courses in the early 20th century including four in Newton - Charles River, Woodland, Brae Burn and Newton Commonwealth. Filmmaker Cob Carlson will use clips from his documentary, Donald Ross: Discovering the Legend, to describe Ross's emigration from Scotland to the U.S., his work in Massachusetts and his life on Beacon Street in Newton. Golf historians Kevin Mendik, a Brae Burn member, and Paul Murphy of Charles River, will join Carlson in telling how Ross’s extraordinary vision and legacy continue today. The program is part of the Newton History Series and is cosponsored by Historic Newton.
