The YCCA – West Suburban YMCA Center for the Cretiave Arts is hosting its annual Singers Showcase which features some of Newton’s exceptionally talented young recording and performing artists. Singers will perform original and cover selections from a number of genres including folk, R&B, a capella, rock, jazz and pop. Prior to the event, all performers have the opportunity to attend an exclusive masterclass with a professional guest artist who will also be headlining the show! Admission - $5.

Newton Theatre Company presents Moliere’s “The Bourgeois Gentleman” or “The Would-Be Hipster,” a hilarious comedy with an updated disco-themed twist! The play intermingles music, dance and song as Mr. Jourdain tries to be the coolest cat in town while at the same time preventing his daughter from marrying the man she loves. Mr. Jourdain’s ridiculous antics in an effort to be hip provide much mirth on and off stage!

Glass Fusing Workshop

Through the study of a wide range of fused pieces, students will learn about different glass firings. Experiment with colored glass pieces, glass powders, and glass frits to create a plate available to pick up within one week. No previous glass experience is necessary. Materials provided.

Jewelry Mosaic Workshop

Using a selection of pre-cut colored glass pieces and beads, create a mini mosaic inside a deep pendant (many shapes available, silver or copper plated). Fit pieces together with glue, then grout with one of the many colored grout available. Clean your pieces. Voilà! You’ll be provided a black leather cord necklace for each pendant. Tuition includes 2 pendants.
