We are seeking a few good neighbors to help us in our endeavors. We currently have several openings:
General volunteer: Duties include staffing the front desk, shelving books, preparing new books for circulation and other general clerical duties. No formal library training is needed, but basic computer skills and a love of reading and books are strongly encouraged. We will train you and you will be working with other experienced and friendly volunteers. Our volunteers have a lot of fun, make new friends and meet new neighbors at the WLC. We ask for a two-hour per week commitment. Morning or afternoon shifts (during or after school hours) are available.
Marketing/Fundraising coordinator: Do you have fundraising or event planning skills that aren't being used these days? The WLC is a great venue for special events to enrich our community and raise funds for WLC (which depends totally on donations for its existence). We are looking for someone to help find local authors, artists, musical groups, etc. to appear at the WLC. You will be working with other volunteers to assist with publicity and event coordination. We hope to have approximately 4 events during the year, so this is not a full-time commitment, but we would also love to have you as a weekly volunteer if your schedule would permit.
Event coordinator: Do you like to plan parties and entertain? We are looking for a person to plan and execute five social events at the WLC per year. Responsibilities include planning the refreshments and logistics for the event and contacting (via email) our willing and cooperative volunteers to help out with food, wine, etc. The coordinator would also need to attend, supervise, and assist in the setting up and cleaning up after the event. Of course, we would love to have you as a weekly volunteer, too, if you have the time and energy.
Reader for Story Time: This is a once-a-week position on Wednesdays or Fridays at 11:00 a.m. for about 45 minutes. We are looking for sometime to read books (your choice) to our preschool patrons from our wonderful children's collection during our scheduled story times. No formal training required and you can bring your own preschooler with you. Familiarity with Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, puppies and kittens, and little pigs is preferred, but not required.
