Since October, 2015, the Needham Newton Regional Chamber, in association with the city of Newton, the town of Needham and community stakeholders, has been developing a strategy for establishing the N2 Corridor as a hub for innovation-economy investment in Greater Boston. Join the Chamber and economic development consultant Camoin Associates for a presentation on the corridor as the plan comes to fruition.
N2 Innovation Corridor, a 500-acre district bordering Newton and Needham, has recently begun to call itself home to a number of fast-growing and well-known innovation companies. With less gridlock and more affordable rent, all while still enjoying the benefits of being part of a suburb of Boston, the N2 Corridor has already started to attract new businesses. In addition to being the new location of TripAdvisor’s world headquarters, which opened in the summer of 2015, the N2 Corridor also hosts PTC, Turbine, SharkNinja (formerly Europro), Verastem, CyberArk, Big Belly Solar, Karyopharm Therapeutics and others.
The new economic strategy for the N2 Corridor aims to further this growth. The U.S. Economic Development Administration has already awarded a grant to stimulate economic development in N2 Corridor, matched with additional investments from local businesses and nonprofits. In addition, plans are already in place to add affordable housing, pubs and restaurants while improving roadways, bike lanes and sidewalks, facilitating the viability of the N2 Corridor as a center for innovation.
The Chamber will be holding the N2 Corridor presentation at Mount Ida College’s Campus Theatre Center on June 29, 2016, at 8:00am.
