On Wednesday, June 28, Mayor Setti Warren will host the 5th annual Pan-Mass Challenge Newton Riders Reception.

The Pan-Mass Challenge, founded in 1980, is an annual bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other athletic charity event. In the 37 years since philanthropist Billy Starr founded the organization, the PMC has raised $500 million for adult and pediatric care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The challenge itself will take place on August 6 and 7, where cyclists will bike up to 192 miles with the goal of raising $46 million. The reception aims to raise awareness for the challenge and thank more than 170 riders who live in Newton.

The reception will take place at Terry O’Reilly’s Irish Pub on Wednesday, June 28, from 7 to 9pm.
