1 position available at the New Art Center: February Vacation Week Counselor

January 21, 2010 by Anonymous

The New Art Center Vacation Program offers opportunities for teenagers who are interested in learning about childcare and arts programming. Counselor positions are paid positions with plenty of training and hands-on experience.

Counselors lead groups of up to 12 children throughout their daily activities. The most important parts of a Counselor’s job are making sure that students are safe, entertained and involved in daily activities. Counselors are responsible for keeping track of each student in their group and making sure they’re on-time to classes. Counselors must abide by the rules of the program and serve as role models for students. They are expected to assist students who need extra help, to help Instructors with classroom management, and to notify Instructors or the Program Director about any unsafe or inappropriate behavior. Ideal candidates are very outgoing, energetic, proactive, with a good sense of humor.
