About

Newton is one of the eleven largest cities in Massachusetts, but it feels like a close-knit mosaic of neighborhoods, each with its own heartbeat. With 13 distinct villages, Newton is a vibrant tapestry of people, organizations, and local businesses that make our city feel both expansive and intimate.

Our public schools—18 elementary, 4 middle, and 2 high schools—reflect the same spirit of excellence and community pride that defines our Garden City.

That’s where OurNewton.org comes in. Whether you’re new to town, a longtime resident, or simply passing through, OurNewton.org is your daily gateway to the incredible events, programs, and stories unfolding across Newton. From concerts and art shows to school happenings and neighborhood gatherings, we bring the pulse of Newton to your fingertips.

We built OurNewton.org to be more than a calendar—it’s your go-to hub for all things Newton. Because in a city this rich with life, connection should be just a click away.

History

In 2009, community members gathered at the Newton Boys and Girls Club to hear about a new way to foster civic engagement and community pride. David Crowley, President of Social Capital Inc., introduced his internet platform to connect schools, nonprofits, and community organizations. We were fascinated by David’s vision for building community with the internet. Many of us rolled up our sleeves to create OurNewton.org.

Today

Our pages are filled with stories about arts and cultural activities, civic engagement opportunities, camps, and local business in and around Newton. These stores are submitted by friends and neighbors, and we do a regular search for exciting and uplifting news to share.

We’d love to hear from you if you have a story to share. If you know about an event that we missed, please let us know.
