Newton Cultural Council’s Annual Tribute to Artist Grantees

The reception, an annual tribute to the recipients of last year’s granting period, will include a welcome reception, “artist spotlight” performances, remarks from Mayor Marc Laredo, the Newton Cultural Council and the City of Newton’s Arts & Culture Department Director, Meryl Kessler, along with refreshments and networking opportunities for creatives and supporters of the arts in Newton.

The arts are a vital force in building bridges across communities, sparking dialogue, and nurturing imagination. By recognizing and celebrating artists who have received Newton Cultural Council grants, we affirm the value of creative expression in the life of our city, said Newton Cultural Council Co-Chair, Anne Marie Stein.

In partnership with the City of Newton’s newly formed Arts & Culture Department, the NCC works to distinguish and support the work of artists and organizations across Newton. “This reception is not only a gesture of appreciation — it is a call to continue supporting and championing the arts in Newton for generations to come,” said Meryl Kessler, Director of Newton’s Arts and Culture Department.

Open to all, attendees include grant recipients and their families, representatives of the Newton Cultural Council, city officials and community leaders, local arts advocates and supporters and individuals interested in serving on the Newton Cultural Council.

This annual event celebrates the artists whose dedication, vision, and hard work were recognized through the awarding of a grant this past year, said Jeffrey Davis, Newton Cultural Council Co-Chair.  It is also an opportunity to bring together artists, patrons, city officials, and art enthusiasts and promises to be an evening filled with celebration, inspiration, and the vibrant spirit of the arts that enriches our city.
